Jaclyn Scandinaro, LCPC, C-DBT, NCC
Hi, I'm Jaclyn and my pronouns are she/her. I am a native New Englander, proud to call Chicago my home over the last 15 years. I am someone who identifies as a “recovering perfectionist”, a foodie, a dog mom, and a music enthusiast.
As someone who has once worked both in the service industry and high volume sales prior to becoming a therapist, I know first hand the stress, pressure, anxiety and fear associated with these roles. I am also familiar with the feelings of being overworked and under-valued. Through my work, I have seen significant change in those who have had similar experiences and feelings as I once did.
Currently, I am a culturally sensitive and LGBTQ+ and neurodiversity affirming Licensed Clinical Practicing Counselor (LCPC). I am also a certified DBT therapist in the State of Illinois. In addition to therapy I was an Improv Therapy instructor with Improv Therapy Group. I have earned my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adler University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Central Connecticut State University.
If you work with me, the most common therapeutic techniques I may use will be Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Therapy, harm reduction techniques, and Exposure Therapy (ERP). I am also a proud member of the International OCD Foundation and have been trained specifically to work with those who have lived OCD experience for the last 4 years. Lastly, I may throw some improv games in the mix because I believe there is healing within humor.
I enjoy collaborating with and supporting those who live with anxiety. Most recently, I have seen great results working with people who live with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, those who are in those high demanding/high pressure roles (ie: legal, medical, sales fields) and those who service our community (ie: service industry folx).
Together, we will build trust, establish goals, embrace imperfection and create a reasonable structure that encourages you to grow, evolve and utilize the skills with confidence to reduce your anxiety!
